THE 5 BEST OFFICE CHAIRS FOR TALL PEOPLE 2020

For many tall guys, sitting on an office chair is a recipe for back pain and discomfort.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to find a taller than an average person crammed into a seat like it’s a kindergarten chair.

That may seem like a bit of an exaggeration if you’re just a little above average, say 6″ 4 ft tall. But as long you sit for hours with your hip below your knees, you’re cooking up back spasms, body pains – which may ultimately screw up your productivity.

Now, a lot of tall folks quickly turn to gaming chairs for solace, but they aren’t everyone’s taste. Besides, a gaming chair is likely to be an eye-sore in a remote office or to a business-inclined person.

That being said, many office chairs cater to the towering-seat needs of the 5 percent – above average height – population. All you need is to find one with the perfect ingredients,  seat height, armrests, and headrests, lumbar support, or more – to cook up your new favorite office chair.

Let’s get started…

But before that, you should know that most tall office chairs have a construction that’s designed to accommodate both big and tall users.

5. Serta Faux Leather Big and Tall Executive Chair

Serta Faux leverages their 75-year legacy in marketing their Big and Tall Executive chair. So, you can expect you are getting ample seating area, comfy contoured cushioning, and customized positioning as they’ve claimed.

Key Features

  • Supports up to 350 pounds
  • Contoured and adjustable lumbar support
  • Fixed armrests
  • Layered body pillows
  • Measures 30.5in x 28in x `45.75in

What I Like About This Product

This Serta Faux office chair is the right size for tall guys but also comfortable. Its high back is a good choice for folks who would like the chair to make it up to their shoulder blades.

Even better, it has ample padding for the neck, back, glutes, and thigh area. The padding in the front seat, beneath the knees, is particularly enjoyable and restricts the annoying sliding in leather chairs.

To flex on shorter guys, this chair would be too big for anyone that isn’t as tall as 6ft. With that, you can enjoy premium low back support, and, ultimately, feel welcomed in a chair that’s constructed for your towering frame.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Leaning back on the chair is likely to be a disaster. Unlike many higher-end ergonomic chairs, four bolts only support the back.

Pros

  • Inexpensive and offers great value
  • Sturdy frame supports up to 340 pounds
  • Wide and deep seat offers generous sitting space
  • Ample cushioning all-around
  • Specially made for tall people over 6ft

Cons

  • Not durable enough for prolonged reclining

Takeaway

If you are on a very tight budget and have no time to test out chairs that’d fit your tall frame in a store, the Serta Big and Tall Executive chair is what you need.

4. La-Z-Boy Deleano Big and Tall Executive Office Chair

La-Z-Boy is yet another prestigious chair manufacturer with almost a century of crafting comfortable and quality products. The La-Z-Boy Deleano is a heavy-duty office chair with a classy office finish and sky-high measurements for the comfort of tall people.

Key Features

  • Bonded leather executive chair
  • Measures 32.25in x 27.5in x 45-48in
  • Seat height min: 21.5in max: 24.5in
  • Supports up to 400 pounds
  • Fixed armrests
  • Advanced layering system with memory foam

What I Like About This Product

At first glance, anyone would be awestruck with the chair’s design. You can pick between mahogany or weathered – which are both classy – but the weathered wood costs an extra hundred bucks.

The Deleano chair seats very high at 21 inches – way higher than regular office chairs. So, this chair is only compatible with, we, the freaks of nature, like 6’3ft and above.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Despite having a classy look and comfy memory foam padding, La-Z-Boy got the design wrong with lumbar support. The waterfall seat edge makes the chair sit too deep, and the back padding only pushes the lower back out. This can get pretty uncomfortable when you sit for a long period without breaks.

Pros

  • Heavy-duty construction
  • Classy design
  • Multiple-layered padding with memory foam
  • Easy to assemble

Cons

  • Not the best lumbar support

Takeaway

If you are exceptionally tall and a fan of classy-looking executive chairs, I’ll strongly recommend the La-Z-Boy Deleano. Just ensure to order from a reputable dealer due to quality control issues.

3. Amazon Basics High Back Executive Chair

The Amazon Basics executive chair is one of the best-selling office chairs not only for tall folks but in the market as a whole. This is mainly because it’s affordable, but also for its simplicity and functionality, which also work for tall people.

Key Features

Measures 29.13 x 25.59 x 41.34–45.08in

Supports up to 275 pounds

Height and rocking adjustment tilt-knob

What I Like About This Product

Unlike the La-Z-Boy Deleano, it’s waterfall seat effectively prevents numbness and aid blood circulation in the legs without affecting its lumbar support.

The chair is actually comfortable for a tall person and well-cushioned for its price. The only question is how long they’d stay that way.  Its cushioned armrests are also comfortable but a little bit low for tall guys.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

If you are not a fan of bonded leather, this chair isn’t for you. Simply put, the leather is of poor quality and would begin to peel off within a short time.

Another revelation of its cheap make is that it squeaks loudly, and its screw covers fall apart.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Good lumbar support
  • Comfortable cushioning
  • Easy assembly
  • Detailed instruction manual

Cons

  • Some of the smaller parts are cheaply made

Takeaway

The Amazon Basics Executive high back chair is a good option for a tall person looking for a cheap yet comfortable chair to sit for only a few hours a day.

2. Flash Furniture HL-0001-GG Mid-Back Mesh Chair

This is a highly-ergonomic office chair from Flash Furniture. It’s a comfortable mesh back chair that’s fully adjustable and even available in a myriad of colors for more personalization.

  • Measures 27.5in x 25.35in x 36-43.5in
  • Seat height: min 18in max: 23in

What I Like About This Product

The many adjustments of this chair make it highly customizable. So, it works smoothly for both tall and short people. The seat height can go as high as 23 inches, leaving you one less worry about your office chair being small.

Even the back angle and armrests are adjustable to personalize the chair to your frame further. This makes the chair more comfortable and maybe even make up for its lack of headrests.

Office chairs with mesh material have better breathability and are more comfortable than leather, in my opinion. And that’s a feature I really enjoy in this chair because leather chairs make my back sweat a lot.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

The chair isn’t adjustable forward and can only be reclined. For a handful of users, they feel it’d have been a perfect office chair if they could just sit more upright.

Pros

  • Sturdy build
  • Good bang for the buck
  • Easy to install
  • Highly adjustable
  • Available in many colors

Cons

  • Somewhat difficult to assemble

Takeaway

This Flash Furniture chair is one of the most affordable high-quality ergonomic chairs I’ve seen. If you don’t mind the mid-back design, it’s a hub of comfort for any tall person.

If you live in a hot climate, you will come to cherish its mesh construction. The back and the seat have a mesh fabric, so it feels like you are sitting on a net, as air still circulates easily.

Overall, it’s sturdy and made to last for years. Even with 300 pounds person using the hear any squeaks or have bolts rattling off.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

The armrests are wobbly and honestly not befitting of a chair of its quality. Agreed, they are adjustable but also uncomfortable. A user even complained that the cushioning is sticky.’

Speaking of which, the mesh desing holds up particles, like pet hair or thini clothing, and is almost impossible to clean.

Pros

  • Sturdy construction
  • Breathable mesh design
  • Endlessly customizable for maximum comfort
  • Multiple mesh color options
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Expensive
