Best Wetsuits for Tall, Lanky, Big Divers and Surfers

As a 6ft7 free-diving enthusiast, I’ve had my struggles over the years finding a wetsuit that fits. Whether you’re tall and lanky like an eel or long and large like an orca, we understand the challenges. Fear not, we’ve got the right wetsuit options for you.

Whether you’re into diving, windsurfing, or catching waves – a wetsuit is an absolute essential. These suits are crafted from neoprene material, providing insulation against the inevitably harsh temperatures of deep waters. Beyond that, they enhance buoyancy, adding some bounce to your underwater experience, and shielding you from pesky sea creatures like jellyfish.

Now, when it comes to finding the right wetsuit, fit is everything. The catch is that taller surfers and divers often find it challenging to locate suits that match their stature precisely. Go too short or tight, and you’ll find yourself battling the waves. Opt for something too baggy, and your suit’s functionality takes a hit – leaving you chilly, slow, and likely regretting your choice.

Not to worry – you have two possible solutions. First, you can order a custom wetsuit – usually costs a fortune. On another hand, you can buy off-the-rack wetsuits with the hope that they’d size your towering frame.

To make life easier, we’ve sorted out the guesswork. Check out my top 7 picks for wetsuits that embrace the tall and lanky crew.

Ready to dive in? Let’s roll…

Premium neoprene material

3/2mm neoprene thickness

Convenient features include an easy-reach, extra-long leash and a heavy-duty YKK back zipper.

What I Like About This Wetsuit

The Lemorecn wetsuit stands out as a reliable choice. The front zipper design not only adds a touch of convenience but also addresses sizing concerns for larger folks. It’s also commendable that the wetsuit is effective in providing warmth without sacrificing comfort. Its value for money, especially in cold weather paddleboarding, attests to its snug fit and flexibility.

What I Don’t Like About This Wetsuit

While the Lemorecn wetsuit boasts some commendable features, it falls short in certain areas. The experience of certain components coming off raised durability concerns, a crucial factor for potential buyers to consider. Additionally, there is a flushing through the back zipper in colder conditions highlighting a potential drawback, hinting at the need for supplementary gear.

Pros

Affordable

Adjustable Fit: The front zipper allows for personalized tightness

Cons

Material Concerns: Reports of straps breaking, and patches detaching

Zipper Challenges

Takeaway
In my assessment, the Lemorecn wetsuit emerges as a commendable option for those seeking affordability and functionality. The front zipper, accurate sizing (if chosen wisely), and positive feedback on warmth and flexibility make it a contender. However, the potential issues with quality, and flushing should prompt potential buyers to weigh their priorities carefully.

While my overall experience with the Ho Stevie! Wetsuit was positive, there were a few drawbacks. The neck entry design, while effective in minimizing water leakage, posed challenges during both wear and removal.

Ho Stevie! delivers a bang for the buck with a solid wetsuit offering warmth, flexibility, and durability. Slight inconveniences with the neck entry and reported zipper issues are outweighed by the overall quality and great fit options. The blind stitching and taped seams contribute to its overall comfort, proving its worth against higher-priced brands.

Takeaway

The Hevto wetsuit is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and budget-friendly wetsuit but may not be the most durable option for more intense use.

What I Like About This Wetsuit

I gotta say, I’m pretty stoked about the Divmystery wetsuit. First off, the price caught me off guard – in a good way. In practical terms, the wetsuit was flexible, providing a decent experience for water activities. The front zipper convenience, highlighted by its ease of use during surfing, stood out as a practical feature. Plus, it held up well in chilly weather, keeping me cozy.

What I Don’t Like About This Wetsuit

While the wetsuit is good, there were a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. The cut of the suit, specifically around the throat area, felt off and exerted some discomfort when fully zipped up. The front zipper, though convenient, was a little too short, causing challenges during doffing, especially when the suit was wet. Additionally, the absence of expandable zippered cuffs added some effort to the donning and doffing process, particularly when dealing with a wet suit.

Pros

Affordable

Convenient front zipper for surfing

Effective in cold weather

Durable with reinforced areas

Cons

Uncomfortable throat cut

Short front zipper for doffing

Lack of expandable cuffs

Takeaway

The Divmystery wetsuit impresses with its affordability and practical features. The front zipper adds convenience, and it performs well in maintaining warmth during cold weather. Despite these nuances, the wetsuit offers great value, making it a solid choice for water enthusiasts looking for a balance between cost and functionality.

3. ZCCO Ultrastretch Wetsuit

The ZCCO Ultra Stretch wetsuit is a budget wetsuit with a sizing chart that fits tall and lanky divers. It has become popular in the water sports community for its affordable price and astonishingly exceptional quality.

Key Features

Ultra Stretch neoprene

Zippers at arms, and legs and a front zipper

Anti-abrasion knee pad

What I Like About This Wetsuit

Let’s talk fit – the sizing chart caters to our tall and lanky comrades, stretching all the way to 4XL. Surprisingly affordable, this wetsuit flexes its muscles against pricier competitors! Durable zippers, stretchy neoprene, and a cloud-like linen lining – it’s the trifecta of comfort.

Finally, the abundance of zippers makes it easy to don this wetsuit without getting into a cloth scuffle.

What I Don’t Like About This Wetsuit

Taking it off might require a bit of a dance. The absence of a back zipper makes it stressful to remove this wetsuit after a swim. As a warning, this wetsuit is only suitable for “tall and lanky guys” even though it’s available up to 4XL. If you’re a huge guy, more specifically, over 200 pounds, you may find it extremely difficult to fit in this drysuit.

Pros

Very affordable

High-quality material

Comfortable inner lining

Easy to wear with zippers on arms and legs

Cons

Difficult to take off

May not fit huge guys over 200 pounds

Takeaway

The ZCCO Ultra Stretch wetsuit is a great choice for a tall and lanky diver on a budget. It’s a 3mm thick wetsuit so it may restrict its use to tropical and warm waters.

2. O’Neill Epic Wetsuit

O’Neill is one of the big names in the world of wetsuits, if not the biggest. The O’Neill Epic wetsuit is no exception to its legacy and is, in fact, one of the most popular wetsuits on the market for divers and surfers.

Key Features

Ultraflex torso

Fluidflex arms and legs

Glued and blindstitched seams

Krypto knee pads

What I Like About This Wetsuit

The sizing chart is spot-on, providing a custom-like fit. Perfect for large surfers or tall guys, the Reactor wetsuit delivers on size. The insulation is impressive, keeping you warm even in chilly 50-degree waters.

What I Don’t Like About This Wetsuit

While a great wetsuit, the neoprene has a persistent odor, reminiscent of the O’Neill Reactor. Unfortunately, no amount of washing seems to eliminate the smell until it’s well-worn.

Pros

Easy on and off

Remarkable insulation

Suitable for huge tall guys

Water-tight back zip system with zipper closure

Cons

Foul smell

Takeaway

The O’Neill Men’s Epic 4/3 stands as a premium wetsuit suitable for every tall guy, ensuring a superior fit. Ideal for cold-water diving, it combines ease of use with top-notch insulation, despite the lingering neoprene odor.

Key Features

Japanese limestone neoprene

Chest zip

Also, it features an Xcel exclusive Drylock ankle seal. The ankle seal is designed in a seamless donut shape that minimizes flushing. Plus, the added hood keeps you extra warm and dry while diving or surfing.

Last but not least, Xcel wetsuits come in a bigger range of sizes than most other brands. So if you are a tall guy and weigh in a lot of pounds, you wouldn’t go wrong with this or any other Xcel wetsuit.

Before hitting the water, the Xcel Drylock sets itself apart. It’s incredibly light and fits snugly on the body.

Quality construction

Drylock and hood drastically minimize flushing

Dries fast

Easy entry with front zipper

Setting up camp is a breeze, taking as little as 10 minutes with a user-friendly 3-pole design and color-coded continuous pole sleeves.

The Outfitterr is arguably the lightest tent we’ve come across, weighing in at just 1.6kg. Remarkably lightweight, it doesn’t compromise on durability and excels across all weather and comfort-related scales. An absolute dream for tall campers!

Surprisingly budget-friendly, Lunar’s Outlifer offers exceptional value for its performance. Size-wise, it provides a cozy and weatherproof personal space measuring 7’5″ in length, 4’6″ in width, and 3’9″ in height.

While the Outlifer boasts many merits, it falls short of securing a higher ranking on our list due to its limitation as a two-person tent.

Hiking is superb for the body and mind.

Yea, we all know that.

Trail pants sorted — now your everyday pair. If you need a longer inseam on the trail, you already know regular pants quit at your ankles too. We cut tall pants and trackies for genuinely long legs. Shop tall pants →

It also can be hard work on the body and the last thing you need to worry about it ill-fitting clothing whilst you’re out trying to enjoy the great outdoors.

Being over 6ft5 we’re pretty used to the struggles of finding pants that fit. Previously we have written on finding snow pants and hiking poles for the vertically gifted.

Most recently a few outdoor buddies and I battle-tested 5 of the best hiking pants for taller guys on the market.

You can enjoy our findings below…

5. Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants

The Ferrosi pants have a movement-mirroring stretch, are comfortable, and abrasion-resistant. A perfect blend for pants you’d take on long hikes.

Key Features

86% nylon, 14% spandex

Straight cut

Button and zipper fly

Adjustable cinch cords at the ankles

Built-in belt

What I Like About This Product

I like Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants because they are very comfy, stretchy pants with a lightweight fit. Anytime I see a lightweight product, my hair tingles, hoping to find out if it’s also functional.

The Ferrosi pants sure were worth it. They are multi-functional. They are also lightweight, so much so you wonder if they are cheap pants. But, in fact, they are durable enough to survive rugged climbing expeditions.

The cinch cords at the ankles of the Ferrosi pants give it a sort of universal inseam.

On the chance that these pants are too long, the cinch cord would tuck the fabric in smartly. So they don’t drop over shoes or have you squeeze them in your boots like fatigues. Anyway, I doubt you’d need them.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

One of my biggest pet peeves is wearing pants with small pockets.

It can be more excruciating when it’s on a hiking pant, for that matter. I don’t particularly appreciate how I fear losing my phone. Or having objects bulge in my pockets.

Pros

Versatile

Pillowy soft cotton

Lightweight

True to size

Multi-pocketed design

Quick-drying material

Cons

No built-in belt

Poor wind protection

Small pockets

Ratings

Pockets: 2/5

Weight: 4/5

Comfort: 3/5

Price: 2/5

Durability: 3/5

4. Arc’teryx Lefroy Pants

The Lefroy is a clear reflection of the brand’s commitment to functionality. The Lefroy is lightweight, with a next-to-skin engineered material that’s super-comfortable and breathable.

Key features

Fabric: 86% nylon, 14% elastane

Built-in belt

What I Like About This Product

Lefroy lightweight pants blow my mind with their superb construction. The unique nylon material is sweat-wicking and stretchy.

I love my fleece jacket and other pants with a similar type of material. They have a refreshing feel on the skin you walk in them.

On long sweaty hikes, they show their superpower. A few seconds or minutes after stopping to catch a breath or camp, they dry up fast. And I don’t have to bother about a sweat patch or the pants stinking afterward.

Unlike the Outdoor Research pants, they have sizable pockets – not the most you’d see in hiking pants, but big enough.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

They fit like designer jeans, which isn’t bad. Except they cost just as much.

In retrospect, maybe that explains why the pants also have short and almost nonfunctional fly zippers.

You also need to order a size or two up your waist measurement for the perfect fit.

Pros

Lightweight

Sturdy and stretchy material

Bold and classy color options

Deep-sized side and front pockets

Cons

Pricey

Short fly zipper

Can be uncomfortable in rugged terrains

Ratings

Pockets: 3/5

Weight: 3/5

Comfort: 3/5

Price: 2/5

Durability: 3/5

3. Patagonia Quandary Pants

The Patagonia Quandary pants are built with a durable, stretchy nylon fabric that is optimized for movement. A few safety pockets allow for easy storage, and an internal cinch helps with fit.

Key Features

Fabric: 94% nylon, 6% spandex

Straight cut

Zippered side pocket

Built-in drawstring belt

What I Like About This Product

The fabric of the Patagonia quandary pants is easy to wash and dry quickly. They are comfortable can be worn all season long.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

The side pockets seem like they are made to fit a Nokia 3310 cellphone. It can’t fit my relatively large smartphone, and that shouldn’t be much to ask in this age.

Pros

Affordable

Straight and stylish cut

Easy wash

Lightweight

Cons

Waist snap is somewhat flimsy

Small pockets

Ratings

Pockets: 3/5

Weight: 3/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Price: 4/5

Durability: 4/5

2. Prana Stretch Zion Pants

Prana Stretch Zion Pants have an underrated classic khaki look. And they don’t disappoint with their array of high-performance to keep you feeling comfortable on and off the trail.

Key features

Fabric: 97% nylon, 3% spandex

Ventilated inseam gusset

Dual entry cargo pocket

Streamlined adjustable waistband

Roll-up leg snaps

What I Like About This Product

I especially like the adjustable leg snaps. They come in handy when you need to wade through a pond or stream. And it can double as a fashion statement.

You’d have no issue storing small valuables in its deep cargo pocket.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Quite frankly, these can be a tad unbearable to wear on some sweltering summer days. But won’t any?

Pros

Good bang for the buck

Well-sized pockets

Built-in cinch belt/waist adjustment

Gives a classic look

Would survive in the outback

Cons

Weighty

Would heat up fast in warm weather

Ratings

Pockets: 3.5/5

Weight: 3/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Price: 4/5

Durability: 4.5/5

1. Columbia Silver Ridge Pants

The Columbia Silver Ridge pants have turned into something of a household name. The stylish and functional convertible design is nothing short of remarkable.

Key Features

100% nylon

UPF50 fabric protection

Partial elastic waist

Zip-off pants

Zippered and velcro pockets

What I Like About This Product

Hands down, it’s the zip-off feature that stands out. If you feel it’s not breathable on a warm day, you can wear only shorts to walk the trail. If I camp in the woods, I will take the detached pants along for the surely cold night ahead. If not, I’d leave it back at home and pack or move with a lighter load. Trust me, that little ounce counts.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

As I feared, the hook and loop closer on the cargo pocket could potentially wear out. In this case, it might no longer stick short. A buddy already had issues with his pocket after only a couple of months.

Pros

Inexpensive

Versatile

Breathes well

Handy “L” and “R” indication on lower pants

Variety of sizes for tall and big guys

Wide range of colors to pick

Cons

It’s Velcro cargo pocket might wear out easily

Ratings

Pockets: 4/5

Weight: 4/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Price: 5/5

Durability: 4/5

Same problem on dry land? A rashie that’s too short rides up the second you paddle out — and so does every regular tee when you’re tall.
5. Raven Fightwear Rash Guard

As the name implies, Raven Fightwear was designed for martial arts fighters, particularly those in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

They come in different sizes, but tall people would find a “tall fit” for their long torsos and arms. They have a sizing chart to help you find a perfect fit. Asides the sizes, they also have a huge range of cool designs.

Features

Material: 80% polyester, 20% spandex

Four-way stretch fabric

Sublimated graphics

Rubber lining

Long Sleeves

What I Like

Have I mentioned how much I love the designs of this brand? They have a stunning array of designs. And the best part is they won’t wear off from washing.

I also like the rubber lining at the waist. This keeps the rash guard secure and fitting as you move.

What I Don’t Like

The only downside here is that this rash guard shrinks from constant cold washing.

Pros

Comfortable fabric

IBJJF approved

Durable

4. Sanabul Essentials Rash Guard

Sanabul Essentials is another reputable brand known for their affordable merchandise. It is one of the cheapest rash guards tall people can purchase.

Its sleek designs ensure you’re always dry. Giving you the comfort you need to perform at optimal levels.

Features

UV SPF 50 Protection

Fast drying

Long Sleeve and Short Sleeve options

IBJJF certified colours

What I Like

Many rash guards are likely to leave you feeling quite hot as you were them. Sanabul Essentials is different. With its revolutionary underarm mesh panel, it helps moisture escape from your body keeping you dry.

What I Don’t Like

It seems Sanabul compromised quality for cost. Their rash guards don’t fare too well under intense use. Many customers have complained that the seams at the wrist start to come apart after one use.

Pros

Suitable for multiple activities

True to size

Breathable and comfortable

Cons

Poor quality

Not for intense use

3. Fuji Baseline Ranked Rash Guard

Fuji is a top brand in the rash guard industry favoured by MMA and Judo fighters. It comes in different sizes including large sizes for tall people.

The guard is made with anti-microbial fabric which reduces the spread of bacteria as you sweat it out. It also features a minimalist design with only the Fuji logo on the chest.

Features

Anti-microbial design

IBJJF certified colours

Long Sleeve

Soft underarm panels

Moisture Wicking

Sublimated graphics

What I Like

All the things you would expect from a quality rash guard – durable, comfortable, quality materials etc., the Fuji Baseline Rash Guard provides. However, what makes this rash guard stand out for me is the antimicrobial design.

As a person that sweats a lot, I appreciate this innovation. I do not have to worry about bacteria spreading all over my body as I work out or perform any outdoor activity with this rash guard.

What I Don’t Like

While the sizes range up to 3X large, they are not true to fit especially for taller people. You would need to order up from your original size to find one that fits.

Pros

Soft and comfy material

Minimalistic design

Durable and comfortable

Cons

Not true to fit

Ratings

2. Speedo UPF 50+ Short Sleeve Rash Guard

Short-sleeved rash guards do not provide the same level of protection from sunburns, especially for the arms. However, what it lacks in arm’s length, it makes up for in increased movement and a cooler feel.

The Speedo Rash Guard is enhanced with a Block the Burn UPF50+ protection finish to protect the skin from harmful sun rays. Guys who prefer their rash guards loose-fitting would love this.

Features

100% Polyester

UV & UPF 50+ protection

Short Sleeve

Loose Fit

Quick dry

Hand wash only

What I Like

I love the quick-drying (sweat-wicking) fabric of the Speedo rashie. Whether it’s from sweating or coming out of the pool, the fabric would dry up quickly. So you wouldn’t have to worry about getting soaked for too long.

I also like that it comes in a wide range of sizes that go up to 4X large. It’s unlikely anyone wouldn’t get a good fit.

What I Don’t Like

This rash guard stains quite easily. What’s worse? The stains don’t come off easily from washing. After some time, it could even get discoloured.

Pros

Lightweight

Durable

Comfortable

True to fit

Cons

Lacks arm length protection

It stains easily

Ratings

1. Kanu Surf Platinum Rash Guard

As a leading brand in the manufacture of swimwear, it’s no surprise Kanu has one of the best rash guards available in the market.

The combination of polyester and spandex makes it an effective sportswear. And affordable sun and dirt protection to wear on a surf or beach day.

Features

Material: 87% polyester, 13% spandex

UPF 50+

Long Sleeves

Different Colours

Machine Wash

What I Like

Since the Kanu Surf was designed with surfers in mind, it has a UPF 50+ rating. This means it provides the best protection under the sun. I’m not a surfer but when I’m taking a jog under the scorching sun on some days, I feel comfortable wearing this rash. Plus, it’s exceptionally cheap, for its quality.

What I Don’t Like

Some users have complained that it is too tight-fitting, so they usually have to order a size up. As a rule of thumb, taller people should order for a size up.

Pros

Durable

Machine-washable

Lightweight

Affordable

True to size

Cons

Fabric stretches out after a few uses

Tight-fitting

Ratings

Want to end a day’s hike sleeping comfortably??

Sleeping pad sorted — now the rest of your kit. A pad cut for a long frame and clothes cut for one are the same idea. We make tall clothing with real length. Shop tall clothing →

But your toes are hanging out the tent or off your sleeping mat?

We had such good feedback on our previous article of sleeping bags for tall people that we decided to do one on camping pads.

First, I’ll admit comfort when it comes to sleeping pads. Unlike you, some tall folks just no longer bother about finding a pad that fits them out of frustration.

Many would instead settle for an undersized sleeping pad and wear a backpack over their feet for warmth. Imagine a 6’9ft guy sleeping on a pad meant for someone that’s at most 6ft tall.

In this light, I took the time and pleasure to dig up some of the best sleeping pads for tall guys like you. It’s a sweet mix of comfort, quality, and value for towering guys.

Let’s get right to it.

5. Wellax Ultralight Air Sleeping Pad

Comfort and durability are assured when you go for the Wellax Ultralight Sleeping Pad. Despite it being so cheap, you won’t feel your hips digging into the ground or experience leaks when in use.

Key Features

Inflated size: 78″ x 24″

2.5″ thick pad

2.1 R-Value

Weight: 1 pound

What I Like About This Product

There are tons of cheap name brands that make ideal sleeping pads for a short stay outdoors. Or perhaps for relaxation on cold tiles when indoors, due to their affordability.

But this Wellax Ultralight Air camping mat is one of the few, and the only one I know that fits tall persons. At least, it’d size 6’6ft frame comfortably from head to toe.

But that’s just the tip. It’s also relatively wide, which is more appreciated by a tall person with broad shoulders. This way, there’s some room to roll over without the fear of falling off.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Its mode of inflation is old-school. After a long day’s hike, the few breaths it takes to inflate can be priceless. Nevertheless, it deflates quickly in case you want to leave in a rush. That’s a truce.

Pros

Very affordable

Great for short stays

Can fit guys up to 6’6ft tall

Lightweight

Cons

Takes long breaths to pump

Ratings

Length: 5/5

Width: 2.5/5

Weight: 4/5

Comfort: 3/5

Packing: 3/5

4. Big Agnes Air Core Ultra Sleeping Pad

Big Agnes has some of the most impressive sleeping pads in their lineup of products. Although a bit a pricy, you’ll get what you paid for in return.

Key Features

4.5 R-Value

Inflated size: 78″ x 50″

3.5″ thick pad

Weighs 3.4 pounds

What I Like About This Product

With a 4.5 R-value rating, this sleeping pad would help you stay chilly on cold nights.

But the most appealing feature is its enormous size. Not only is it long enough to fit most tall guys, but it’s also super wide. It’s like the king-sized bed of the wood, only smaller and mobile.

You might get too comfortable and roll off from the excitement of the excess sleeping real estate. But the straight-lined grooves would keep you cradled on the sleeping pad.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Weighing almost 3.5 pounds, it’s heavy in backpacking lingo. If you’re cool with trading luxury and warmth for a few extra pounds of load, go for it.

Pros

Ample room for guys up to 6’6ft and even higher

Perfect for cold sleepers

Thick padding for comfort

Wide enough for two campers

Packs small for mobility

Cons

Expensive

Heavy

Ratings

Length: 5/5

Width: 5/5

Weight: 2/5

Comfort: 5/5

Packing: 2/5

3. Klymit Static V Extra Wide Luxe Sleeping Pad

If you love the luxury of the Big Agnes sleeping pad but find it expensive, Static V Luxe is a superb affordable alternative.

Key Features

4.4 R-Value

Inflated size: 6″ x 30″

Packs at 3″

3″ thick pad

Weighs 2.2 pounds

What I Like About This Product

It’s a terrific sleeping pad that’s comparable, or even better than mats that cost almost double its price.

It’s large enough in both length and width to comfortably fit a towering person. It’s V shape is also much better than sleeping on the regular mummy-shaped sleeping pads.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

It claims to have a 4.4 r-value but doesn’t seem to be so. If you intend to hike at a temperature even below 30 degrees F, it starts to show.

Pros

Top-level comfort

Well worth the money

Firm support for side sleepers

Cons

Not as warm as expected

Clumsy to repack in its bag

Ratings

Length: 4/5

Width: 5/5

Weight: 3/5

Comfort: 4/5

Packing: 3/5

2. Exped Megamat 10 Sleeping Pad

I call the Exped Megamat 10 the Rolls Royce of sleeping pads. Only not super expensive but just as magnificent and elaborate.

If you’re all about comfort and quality, you’d love this sleeping pad.

Key Features

Self Inflating with an attached mini pump

Insulation for temperatures as low as -47 degrees

Inflated size: 77.7 x 30″

3.9″ thick pad

Innovative packing sack

5-year warranty

What I Like About This Product

There’s nothing to hate about sleeping on this mat. It almost feels like sleeping on a memory foam mattress. Yet, it can be super firm if that’s you prefer that as a side sleeper.

Moreover, its insulation is top-notch and would’ve had a top-charting R-Value – if it were specified. But from experience, you’d still stay warm on a night with a temperature as low as 2 degrees celsius.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

Being the super sleeping pad it is, it lacks speedy inflation and deflation. It’s the kind of pad you’d sit on to let the air out of it completely for repacking.

And it’s not exactly a great option for backpacking. It weighs over 5 pounds, which can quickly become a burden while hiking even short trails.

Pros

Solid firmness and adjustment

Easy to inflate

Stellar ground insulation

Cons

Pricey

Heavy and uses up space

Ratings

Length: 5/5

Width: 4.5/5

Weight: 2/5

Comfort: 5/5

Packing: 2/5

1. Nemo Tensor Insulated Sleeping Pad

The Nemo Tensor pad has been the industry-standard for sleeping pads for quite a while. Fortunately, they also have a large version that’d fit folks as tall as 6’5ft.

Key Features

Includes pump sack and adjustable valve

What I Like About This Product

This pad is all it claims to be. From super comfortable, warm, firm, to easy to pump.

But what I really love about it is that it doesn’t let out loud squawks each time you turn on it. And its pump sack makes it painlessly easy to inflate or deflate the pad.

Nemo doesn’t use an R-value rating, but this sleeper can most definitely be used in frigid temperatures. It’s rated 10 to 20F, which is way below freezing levels.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

I haven’t seen any negative issue that stands out with the Nemo Tensor as at the time of this writing. Except that it’s not the best for tall guys leaning towards being a giant (6″ 7 and above). And it makes the typical “squeak squeak” sound when you roll in it. But only less noisy and annoying compared to other sleeping pads.

Pros

Good bang for your buck

Ergonomical rectangular shape

Discreetly positioned valve

Fast and easy to inflate

Relatively lightweight

Not as noisy or squeaky as other brands

Cons

Not the most affordable sleeping pad

It’s a huge pain shopping for footwear as a tall person with big feet. Previously we covered wetsuits for tall people.

Big feet usually means a big frame. If standard gear never fits, standard clothes don’t either. We make tall clothing with real length. Shop tall clothing →

Now it’s time to take a look at the best fins/flippers on the market today.

Being 6’6″ and growing up around beaches, i’m definitely no stranger to going a dive or snorkel on the weekend.

I have taken in to consideration things such as open or closed heel fin, barefoot or diving booties, and most importantly whether the fin is comfortable enough to accommodate your large feet.

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced diver/snorkeler – hopefully this list makes sure you have comfortable feet whilst you explore the waterways.

Let’s go.

5. Mako Spearguns Freedive Hunter Fins

Mako produces a variety of fins but I’ve chosen this because it is probably the best snorkeling fin for diving beginners with big feet.

Mako Hunter Fins are made from carbon and fiberglass making them very durable. They come in various sizes with closed and open heel options.

Key Features

Made from carbon and fiberglass

Fixed blades

Open and closed heel design

What I Like

Mako brand fins are large! Unlike other brands that you usually have to order for a size up for your big feet to find one that fits you. With Mako brands, you can order for your actual size and be sure that it would fit right.

It goes up to men’s size 15 in the open or closed heel version.

What I Don’t Like

The Mako fins are fragile. Despite being made from quality materials, many users have made complaints about its durability.

A customer claimed that the fin broke in half when he accidentally dropped it.

Pros

Available in different sizes

Large size

Open and closed heel design

Comfortable

Cons

They are fragile

Ratings

Design: 4/5

Functionality: 4.5/5

Durability: 3.5/5

Price: 4/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

4. Tilos Getaway Snorkeling Fins

Tilos designed this fin with snorkeling and wide feet in mind. They are excellent for people with big feet. With a sleek and traditional open heel design, its also one of the more affordable snorkeling fins.

Key Features

Long blades

Adjustable fins

Open heel design

Mesh fin backpack

What I Like

They are designed specifically for large feet so you do not have to squish your feet in.

I love the open heel design of the fin. The strap allows for a lot of adjustability, so you can adjust until it feels comfy.

While the largest men’s size is size 13, they have multiple width E sizes which would fit people with wide feet.

What I Don’t Like

While Tilos Snorkeling fins are made for people with large feet, the largest size for men is size 13. People with a foot size greater than 13 would miss out.

Pros

Affordable price

Sleek design

Adjustable strap

Cons

Lacks great propulsion power

Ratings

Design: 4/5

Functionality: 3.5/5

Durability: 4/5

Price: 5/5

Comfort: 4/5

3. ScubaPro GO Travel Fins

ScubaPro has become a trusted brand in the diving equipment market and their snorkeling fins go up into larger sizes for people with larger feet.

The fin has an open heel design that provides comfort. It is designed to be worn either barefoot or with diving booties.

They might not be the most advanced fins, but they are great for those that enjoy diving in their leisure time.

Key Features

Dimension: 24 x 8 x 4 inches

Weight: 1.7 pounds

100% Monprene construction

25o pre-angled blade

Open heel design

Adjustable straps

What I Like

I love that ScubaPro designs its fins to be durable. It is made from moldable Monprene enabling them to withstand heavy-duty use and are long-lasting. You wouldn’t deal with broken blades or torn foot pockets.

Also, the bungee heel straps allow users to slip them on and off without a hitch.

What I Don’t Like

I am not a fan of the travel fins in terms of its limited speed and power. It has decent power and speed in low current waters, but when swimming against strong currents, the ScubaPro Go Fin doesn’t offer enough power.

They tend to be small if you do not wear them barefoot. If you want to wear it with a dive bootie, you would purchase a vastly oversized one.

Pros

Travel friendly – Lightweight and compact

Durable

Super comfortable for big feet

Cons

Not suitable for advanced diving

Limited thrust

Ratings

Design: 4/5

Functionality: 4/5

Durability: 4.5/5

Price: 4.5/5

2. Deep Blue Gear Aquanaut II Fins

The Aquanaut II fins are designed to offer maximum propulsion efficiency while minimizing fatigue. The lightweight design ensures it does just that.

The medium fin length makes it easy to pack for travel. It comes in various sizes up to men’s size 15. So irrespective of the length or width of your feet, you’re sure to find a suitable and comfortable size.

Key Features

Dimension: 20 x 9 x 4.5 inches

Weight: 2.25 pounds

Made from 100% rubber

Soft fin blades

Closed heel design

What I Like

I love how soft and comfortable these fins are. They can be worn with or without swim socks/shoes. Compared to most other brands of snorkel fins, its medium-length blade allows for easy packing.

You do not have to worry about losing your fin to the ocean if it accidentally slips off. The Aquanaut II is buoyant and would float to the top for easy retrieval.

What I Don’t Like

While mostly durable due to its composition, the back of the fin is super thin and can tear easily.

Pros

Made with soft materials

Comfortable

Travel friendly

Affordable

Cons

Back of fin can easily tear

Ratings

Design: 4.5/5

Functionality: 4/5

Durability: 4/5

Tall people silently deal with tall people problems.

Tired of blankets that leave your feet out in the cold? It’s the same story with clothes when you’re tall.
Every night, I turn into an endless number of awkward positions just so my feet don’t go over the bed. As if that’s not enough, my blanket almost dwarfs me. And that’s the tipping point for me.

It’s either I choose between having warm feet or cover myself up to the head or shoulders. On some days, I curl up tightly just to enjoy the full experience.

Truth is, like you, I kept up with this for a long till I decided to make the small, but crucial decision of finding blankets for tall people like me.

P.S I’m only 6”4. Couldn’t imagine what taller guys would be going through with this dilemma.

So I spoke to a few towering dudes and swept the internet till I pinpointed a handful of awesome blankets for tall guys. And got myself a pair too.

But I’ll save you the stress of going through all that and give you 5 of the best blankets for tall people on the market. Not to worry, you’d find both affordable and high-end options. (also see top sleeping bags for taller guys)

Let’s get to it.

Best 5 Blankets for Tall People

5. Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool Washable Blanket

Pendleton Woolen Mills is an iconic brand known for decades for producing high-quality wool products and this blanket is no different.

Pendleton’s wool blanket offers comfort, quality, and warmth. Everything you would expect from a top brand.

Key Features

Made from 100% Pure Virgin Wool

Size is 108”x96” (King Size)

Machine washable

What I Like

I love that the Pendleton blanket is eco-friendly. The wool used to produce the blanket are sustainably sourced, this means a lower carbon footprint. The dyes used also come from natural sources.

It is surprisingly breathable despite being made from 100% wool. If well maintained, it is a blanket that could last for a lifetime.

What I Don’t Like

Wool can be scratchy to the skin, so if you have sensitive skin, it might not be a great choice. It is best not to pull the blanket over bare skin.

Pros

Easy to clean

Water and stain-resistant

Eco-friendly

Cons

Pricey

It can be rough on the skin

Ratings

Length: 4/5

Weight: 4/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Cleaning: 4.5/5

4. CuteKing Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets are proven to help you get a better night’s sleep, and that’s exactly what CuteKing weighted blanket offers.

Weighted blankets ideally weigh 10% of a sleeper’s weight. Since it comes in four weight options: 10, 15, 20, and 25 pounds, CuteKing is best suited for people that weigh between 100 and 250 pounds.

Key Features

Size: 104”x88”

100% cotton

Premium glass beads fillings

What I Like

Using glass beads instead of plastic beads is a genius idea! It ensures that the blanket is better conforming and gives cooler temperatures.

I was surprised to find out it is made from 100% cotton and still comes at an affordable price. Cotton gives the blanket a good balance between durability, breathability, and comfort that few other materials can match.

What I Don’t Like

While it has multiple lengths and weight options, taller people (6’6 and above) might not find it suitable.

Pros

It is affordable

It has multiple weight options

Quality materials

Free mending for the first three years of ownership

Cons

Not suitable for cold temperatures

It does not come with a duvet cover

Ratings

Length: 4/5

Weight: 5/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Cleaning: 3/5

Softness: 4.5/5

3. MERRYLIFE Throw Blanket

MerryLife Throw blankets are huge making them suitable for a variety of uses. Whether to cuddle on your couch or to be used for a picnic, it is certain to provide much-needed warmth.

With a length of 102 inches, it is suitable for most tall people. It also comes in smaller sizes if 102 inches is deemed too long.

Key Features

Made from 100% polyester

Dimension 102”x90”

Multiple sizes available

Multiple colours available

Glass beads filling

What I Like

Aesthetically, MerryLife blankets are some of the most attractive. It has a variety of vibrant colours and designs you can choose from.

It is made from polyester fleece which gives it its lightweight and softness. It is an all-purpose blanket that can be used almost anywhere.

What I Don’t Like

Fleece materials are known to shed a lot and it can be quite infuriating. You would notice the fleece all over your clothes and can sometimes ruin it.

Regular washing would help reduce the amount of fleece shed but it would affect the durability of the blanket.

Pros

Lightweight

Multiple sizes

Aesthetically pleasing

Easy to maintain

Cons

It sheds horribly

Falls apart from constant washing

Ratings

Length: 4/5

Weight: 4.5/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Cleaning: 4.5/5

Softness: 4.5/5

2. GrayEagle Bedding All Season Down Comforter

GaryEagle Bedding Company has some of the longest blankets in the market. The Super King size comforter (120”x98”) is larger than most blankets so you won’t have to fight for cover all night.

With this size, a 7 foot (84 inches) basketball player would have this blanket easily cover from head to toe with about 36 inches extra left.

Features

100% Microfiber Cover

Dimensions: 120”x98”

Hypoallergenic Microfiber Fill

116 oz. of Microfiber fill

Double-needle stitching

Sewn-through box design

What I Like

Despite the size and length of the blanket, you would assume the manufacturers sacrificed quality but not GaryEagle Bedding Company. This blanket is one of the most comfortable blankets available.

The double-needle stitching ensures that the fillings do not move around. It is super soft and has the length for tall people. You do not have to fight your partner for coverage in the middle of the night as it is wide enough to cover.

What I Don’t Like

The quality of the fillings is not so great. This gives the blanket a not so smooth feel and is quite uncomfortable when in use.

Pros

Lightweight

Made from quality material

It is easy to clean

Cons

Fillings don’t stay in place

It causes heat

Ratings

Length: 5/5

Weight: 4/5

Comfort: 4.5/5

Cleaning: 4.5/5

Softness: 4.5/5

1. Big Blanket Original Stretch

Big Blanket Co changed the blanket game. They claim to have the “biggest and best blankets in the world”. With their 100 square foot monster blanket, it’s hard to dispute.

The original stretch is big enough to fit a family of six during movie night. It’s also versatile enough to be used for beds, picnics, etc.

Besides, the Original Stretch, the brand also has Premium Woven, XL Weighted, and Premier Plush options. All bigger than your average blanket.

Key Features

Dimensions: 120”x120” (most suitable for tall people)

Weight: 11 pounds

95% polyester, 5% spandex

Machine Washable

4-way stretch

Temperature regulating

What I Like

I can’t stop raving about the size of these blankets. The size sets it apart from other blankets. Big blankets are bigger than an adult Asian elephant! No matter how tall you are, the big blanket’s original stretch would easily cover from head to toe.

Size isn’t all that matters in a good blanket, it has to be soft and cozy. Big blanket checks these boxes.

What I Don’t Like

Nothing is perfect. The major downside to this blanket is also its size. The blanket is too large for anything less than a king-sized bed. It can’t be easily tucked under the mattress.

Pros

Bigger than most king-sized blanket

Temperature regulating

It is easy to fold and store

It is affordable

Cons

It is heavy

Easy to lose things in it

Ratings

Length: 5/5

Weight: 3.5/5

Comfort: 5/5

Cleaning: 4.5/5

Softness: 5/5

It’s bad enough that a situation might make you require using a rolling walker to support your movement.

Sometimes, it’s for the best. But you definitely shouldn’t add salt to the injury by using an undersized mobility walker.

Given the fact that you’re taller than average, your preferred rollator walker should also be sturdy enough to hold up to your weight.

Getting anything less can prove to be a disappointment in the long run.

The best rollator walkers for tall persons would have ample height adjustment, a hulking weight limit, and useful extra features.

But that can be relative as price is a factor.

Regardless, I compiled a comprehensive and encompassing list of the best rollator walkers for tall seniors on the market.

So don’t fret, you’ll find one that suits your taste and budget.

5. Graham-Field Lumex Allura LX Boriatric Walker

Lumex designed the Allura LX specially for tall guys. It has an array of handy accessories that also give it an elegant outlook.

Key Features

Weighs 19lbs

User weight limit: 300lbs

Goes as high as 42”

8” rolling tires

Accessories: cane holder, removable storage bag

What I Like About This Walker

This is really one classy looking rollator walker. If you’re the “suit and tie” kind of person, you’ll like it right off the bat. The plain storage pouch accentuates other parts and accessories of the walker in style.

Also, it works for a person as tall as 6’8″, which is great.

But you may need to tread carefully if you’re on the heavy side of the scale because it still has the average 300-pound weight limit.

Needless to say, it has a sturdy frame that would hold up well over time under good use.

What I Don’t Like About This Walker

I don’t like how they portray it as having a “lightweight aluminium” frame. There are many other rollators that weigh much less and aren’t marketed heavily as lightweight.

On another hand, the seat is made of fabric with no cushion. Some screws on the sides may also cause discomfort for a larger-sized person.

Pros

Good deal

Sleek paint job

Classic look

Highly adjustable for up to 6’8 guys

Cons

Uncomfortable fabric seat

Rating

Weight: 2.5/5

Support: 3/5

Adjustment: 4/5

Comfort: 3/5

Aesthetics: 5/5

4. Dolomite Futura Rollator Walker – Highest Handle Adjustment for Tall Guys

The Dolomite Futura rollator walker has a simple and minimalistic design that actually contrasts its name. That aside, it’s easily the only rollator walker that can reach over a 42-inch handle setting.

If you’re under 6’2″ (1.88 m), this walker is out of your range.

Key Features

Weighs 18lbs

User weight limit: 330lbs

Handle raises as high as 43.5”

8” indoor & outdoor wheels

Accessories: cane holder, removable basket

What I Like About This Walker

This rollator is probably a savior to towering guys that still have issues with other tall walkers. It’s hard not to find a comfortable height setting even for a 7ft tall giant.

Unlike other tall rollator walkers, it’s capably built to support its 330lbs weight limit. Maybe even a little more, but that would be unnecessary and risky.

At a glance, it’s clear the Futura is built to last with its old-school style construction. Sure enough, the walker is made from tougher quality steel than the average rollators.

What I Don’t Like About This Walker

I understand beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder but Futura is just not it for me.

The basket behind the seat makes it look like a shopping cart. While this is personal, the visible brake wires are somewhat a general flaw – makes it look too much like a machine.

And, the price of the Futura puts it in the luxury category of walkers. But definitely worth it since you won’t find as many personalizable walkers for tall guys.

Pros

Unending handle adjustment setting for towering guys 6’6″ and above

Simple and minimalistic look suits reserved guys and seniors

Built to last

Cons

Expensive walker

Rating

Weight: 4/5

Support: 4/5

Adjustment: 5/5

Comfort: 3/5

Aesthetics: 2.5/5

3. Comodita Prima Heavy-Duty Rollator Walker – Best for Heavy Weight Support

This is a designated rollator for stocky or large persons weighing up to 400 pounds. While built sturdily, it can also hold a 6″4 tall user comfortably without hunching over.

Key Features

Weighs 19.5lbs

User weight limit: 400lbs

Supports up to 6’4″ guys

8” indoor & outdoor wheels

Accessories: cane holder and cup holder

What I Like About This Walker

First, I should reiterate it’s a thickset rollator walker that effortlessly supports large-sized individuals. The quality of its construction alone boosts confidence on the seat. Speaking of which, it also has a wide and well-cushioned.

What I Don’t Like About This Walker

No doubt, this rollator has a sturdy, and secure frame that feels safe. But some folks have complained about a sliver of chance that its tires may slide even when the brakes are locked.

However, you only need to get the right height setting to keep it balanced with your hands.

Pros

High-end walker

Good value

Thickset steel frame

Spacious storage accessory

Wide and comfy seat

Cons

Somewhat heavy

Rating

Weight: 3/5

Support: 5/5

Adjustment: 3.5/5

Comfort: 4/5

Aesthetics: 3/5

2. Medline Empower Rollator Walker – Budget Option

Currently, this is the cheapest rollator walker for tall people that I’ve come across. And it owes this partly to the huge price discount ongoing.

Key Features

Weighs 17lbs

User weight limit: 300lbs

Supports up to 6’4″ guys

8” indoor & outdoor wheels

Accessories: reflective tape, cup holder, and tote bag

What I Like About This Walker

Aside from the sweet deal you can get on this walker, it’s versatility is something to applaud. It can fit a person as tall as 6’4″ but also as short as 4’11”.

So you can pass it on to someone shorter, and they’d still find it valuable. This saves money that could have also been used to buy a “small-version” walker.

The brightly colored parts are the adjustment knobs and brake point. This is great for seniors to easily spot and use.

What I Don’t Like About This Walker

Quite a number of folks have said it’s heavy, but it’s relative to their health and size.

For a tall person who’s still mildly active, it’s definitely lightweight. There are heavier walkers in this review that are considered light.

Pros

Good bang for the buck

Lightweight

Comfortable seating area

Can also be used by short folks

Cons

Some quality control issues

Rating

Weight: 5/5

Support: 3.5/5

Durability: 3/5

Comfort: 4/5

Adjustment: 3/5

1. Volaris Smart Patrol Fitness Rollator Walker – Overall Best Rollator Walker for Tall Guys

This Volaris Smart Patrol is the more futuristic looking walker. It’s sporty and trendy design is not only appealing but also highly functional.

Key Features

Weighs 16lbs

User weight limit: 330lbs

Supports up to 6’4″ guys

8” indoor & outdoor wheels

Accessories: cane holder and cup holder

What I Like About This Walker

The Volaris walker is one of the few, if not only ergonomic walkers on the market. It has a unique design that creates vital space to stand upright inside the walker.

Unlike other walkers, you may be slightly hunched over due to the back tires usually taking up legroom.

It’s ultra-light, so it can move around easily. Despite this, it has a higher weight limit than heavier walkers because it’s built with quality materials.

What I Don’t Like About This Walker

As if expected, the innovative design that supports upright standing reduced the quality of the seat.

The plastic seat isn’t comfortable. Why? Well, because it’s plastic. So you may need to have a throw pillow handy if you plan to seat on the walker for long periods.

And finally, you’ll have to buy most accessories, such as storage for said pillow.

Pros

Ergonomic design encourages upright posture

Very lightweight

Flexible for walk in narrow spaces

Futuristic look

Cons

Pricy

Has a plastic seat

Rating

Weight: 5/5

Support: 5/5

Durability: 5/5

Comfort: 3/5

Adjustment: 4.5/5

Torso length is the key factor to finding the best hiking backpacks for tall guys. If your back is 20 inches or more, you fall under the category of tall guys (regardless of your actual height).

Walking a trail can be the opposite of fun for something as little as your backpack chafing your arms. Or a hip belt sitting on top of your belly button. The discomfort of adjusting the bag every minute can be hell for me.

Pack sorted — now your wardrobe. A backpack built for a long torso and clothes built for one are the same idea. We make tall clothing that fits a tall frame. Shop tall clothing →

Being 6ft+ comes with many perks… but one of the harder items i’ve found to shop for is camping gear. In the past I have covered such topics as the best sleeping bags, hiking poles, tents and now it’s time to turn our attention to the backpack!

I spent a ton of time to test, research and review 9 of the best hiking backpacks tall guys can feel comfortable in.

No more restraints. Stiff shoulders. High-riding hip belt. Nada…

Price: 4.2/5

What I Like

The most impressive thing about this product is the top loader and panel loader design. This allows for easy access to all your gears. The back panel design also ensures your load is stable and comfortable on your back no matter how much you stuff in it.

What I Don’t Like

The biggest compartment is narrow, so it is a struggle to fit all your gears into it.

Pros

Adjustable torso length

Excellent organizational feature

Cons

No hip belts

Not as good for heavy load

No rain fly

8. Osprey Rook 65 Backpack

Osprey Rook 65 backpack is designed to make your backpacking trips effortless and comfortable. It has plenty of storage space which makes it perfect if you have camping plans.

Features

Suspension: 4/5

Weight: 4.3/5

Capacity: 4.7/5

Durability: 4/5

Comfort: 4.6/5

Price: 3.5/5

What I Like

The flexible back panel fits torso lengths between 17 and 22 inches, fitting a wide range of bodies. It also features an internal hydration sleeve (sold separately), that can accommodate up to 3L of water, which is great for staying hydrated on your hikes.

What I Don’t Like

While less expensive than other Osprey products, comfort is subpar for the price it goes for. It is also difficult to access your gears due to the compartment design.

Pros

Integrated rain cover

Well-built

Lightweight

Cons

Comfort is underwhelming

Storage optimization is limited.

7. Loowoko Hiking Backpack 50L

Loowoko design their backpacks to be weather resistant. If you don’t want to worry about your gear when it rains or scorching hot, this is the backpack for you.

Features

Weight: 4.6/5

Capacity: 4.4/5

Durability: 4/5

Comfort: 4.4/5

Water Resistance: 4.3/5

Price: 4.8/5

What I Like

The backpack provides a secure, fully adjustable fit around the torso, an adjustable waist belt, and adjustable straps at the shoulders for upper-load balance and support.

What I Don’t Like

The waist belt doesn’t provide much support so all the weight falls on your shoulder.

Pros

Waterproof

Great price

Extra pocket spaces

Cons

Not durable

Poor weight distribution

What I Like

If you’re one that loves your backpack having many pockets, you’ll love this. This backpack has many pockets for your phone, water bottle, and other gears, with easy access.

High level of adjustability

What I Don’t Like

The backpack is not as durable as advertised as it starts breaking apart after a few months.

Pros

Excellent storage organization

What I Don’t Like

A major dislike is that there is only a single access to the main compartment. This backpack would be our top pick but for its back-breaking cost.

Great ventilation

It is very pricey

Teton Sports is one of the best brands when it comes to backpacks. They are very affordable and do not sacrifice on quality. The great quality/price ratio is why the Scout 3400 is my top pick.

What I Don’t Like

Durability seems to be a major flaw of Teton Sports’ designs as their products are known to break after a few months.
